Posting by Judith Perez (Saint Catherine Academy High School, Bronx) Hello, My name is Judith Perez, and I am getting my PhD in Sociology at Fordham University. I am seeking Native New Yorkers to participate in my dissertation research. I am seeking people who were born and raised in NYC proper- the five boroughs only. My dissertation will examine why individuals from New York City choose to live in certain communities or neighborhoods. Do people stay within the five boroughs of New York City? Do Native New Yorkers move out of state, or are people just moving across the river / over the bridge to Northern NJ, LI, or Westchester? In addition, I want to learn about the experiences of the house buying /home ownership search process of native New Yorkers. I hope to learn how different types of urban individuals determine their destinations and understand what residential options are available to them. By sharing your experiences, you are helping to expand the research on housing options and residential experiences in the United States in general, and for Native New Yorkers in particular.
